I think we all skirt around the inevitable. Yet most of us are in denial that we even need a therapist. Why are we so reluctant to better ourselves? Do we like suffering?

America appears to be miles ahead of the UK regarding attitudes to therapy.

Americans speak openly about visiting their therapist and slot anecdotes into a conversation as casually as if they were referring to their hairdresser or dentist. And that’s just it. We pay people to cut our hair to keep it healthy, and we pay people to clean our teeth and prevent them from rotting. And yet there’s a reticence about keeping our minds healthy.

There is no shame in seeking the assistance of a therapist to make sense of your internal chaos.

But I don’t need a therapist

I will go as far as to say that visiting a therapist should be as commonplace as going to the hairdresser. We all benefit from therapy!
